It is been pretty much ten years given that we 1st interviewed Lisa Grossman for The Artist’s Street. See: Voices of Experience – Lisa Grossman. Now, on the event of her 2023 exhibition, Rivering at Haw Modern day in Kansas City, we desired to update her job interview with a few photos from her new work. The exhibition paintings mirror a adore affair with the Kansas River, knowledgeable by science and historical past and personal explorations accomplished by kayak, airplane and path, ensuing in an exquisite selection of oil and acrylic paintings. The artist writes: “This exhibition features not only contemporary sights of the Kaw but also perform that imagines the ancient and evolving Kansas River Valley. These include things like imagery of floodplain scrolls—scars left behind from outdated river channels—the ancestral Kaw Lake, and the proof of ancient lifetime together the Kaw.”

“The oil paintings are mostly views of the river from earlier mentioned, using footage I have taken from a tiny aircraft flying at 500-1000 feet overhead or drone footage up to 400 toes in altitude. These paintings keep on my exploration of the ceaseless windings of sand and drinking water above time, the ever-evolving channels unfurling across the riverbed. In them, I marvel at how the river provides up such dynamic and the natural way pleasing compositions.”
