Emie Diamond is an Artwork Critic, Curator and Author living and performing in London. Convey to us about you, and your journey as a writer, critic, and curator

An early infatuation with literature led me to initially examine English. Although, the training course of my daily life altered after enrolling in an artwork background program even though dwelling in Rome. My very first foray into artwork education and learning was a Master’s diploma at Harvard the place I wrote my thesis on present-day art society write-up-1980s. Certainly! I observed that I am specifically drawn to ambient and shadowy lighting, a moody palette, figuration, strange reflections, and performs with historical references.

Really tricky to select, although I will try out! I like the Pre-raphaelites, early pictures, the Bloomsbury group, and have often had a gentle place for Gertrude Stein’s milieu of avant-garde Parisians at rue de Fleurus. 

For my Courtauld dissertation, I interpreted portraits of Stein and established out to analyse her impact on modern tradition. I discover her inventive rhetoric amusing ‘a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose.’

How do the London or New York artwork scenes differ?

They are very distinct and I like them the two. I will constantly have an appreciation for New York simply because that was the place I acquired to curate my individual shows. The town breeds an optimistic mindset that led me to acquire on each undertaking that arrived my way, which was really tricky work but similarly fulfilling. There are unlimited exhibitions to see and most evenings I had conflicting commitments, but I loved the depth of the scene. 

In London, people are even now enthusiastic and formidable, but I’ve observed there is an additional kindness that resonates with me. Persons in the London art world also tend to be far more tuned into the intercontinental artwork scene and embrace a world wide perspective, which is great. In New York, I observed every little thing all the time, whereas in London attending displays feels considerably a lot more deliberate. What interesting initiatives do you have on the horizon?

My piece on NFTs and women of all ages not too long ago came out in print for Hunger Journal, which was a labour of love. I was chosen by the educational periodical Woman’s Artwork Journal to evaluation Suzanne Valadon: Model, Painter, Rebel- this will be printed in the coming months. Cultured Journal just sent me to Turkey to produce an article on the art of Bodrum- ought to be out next 7 days.
