Do you love sprawling, futuristic cities? Blue-purple skylines? Evocative urban jungles? Then you gotta love Lazaro45ive’s art! His fascination with neon-washed streets and the lone explorers that venture to navigate them is downright palpable.

Those cities are his escape from reality, a place to pour his endless creativity on when he’s not working out or composing his music.

Thankfully, we convinced him to slow down for a second and talk about the place where all these amazing cities come from:

Where do you live? Does this place influence your art?

I live in Milan, Italy, and yes it has influenced some of my works! For example, “La Galleria” is based on the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a place that I really loved walking by as a kid.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Creating has always been a passion of mine. I wouldn’t say I decided to become an artist, I just love to create and I can’t help it!

Is being an artist your full time profession?

Not at the moment, no. As much I’d love to, I still have a full time job in a law firm.

What are your biggest inspirations?

Oh many many things! It can be personal memories, a movie, a song, even certain artworks from other artists that I love!

The Bridges Of Hyperion
The Lost Legacy

You create a lot of imaginary cities. Are they based on any real ones?

I always keep pictures of different cities as reference, so to some extent my designs  are based on real cities, even though the end results are very much fictitious.

If you could live in a different city and create art there, which one would it be?

Definitely Hong Kong or Tokyo!

What does your typical day look like?

Quite ordinary, to be honest: I wake up, go to work, get back home, work out (every other day) and then start working on my art until very late at night. Eventually, I eat something, go to sleep, and repeat the whole routine the next day 🙂

Longing
The End Of Innocence

Do you have any other hobbies?

I really love music, I’ve been composing with Ableton Live for many years and I used to DJ as well. I also love skiing and doing calisthenics.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m trying to get as much visibility as possible for my art. I’d love to be featured in physical galleries more, and get people to experience my works in live events. Generally, I’d say my ultimate goal is to get to the point where I’m able to do this full time and live from my art.
