Pamplin Media Group – Local artist sculpture installed in downtown Redmond

Jana Charl, who makes artwork at Haycreek Ranch, has joined artists in the town of Redmond’s “Art About the Clock” general public artwork gallery.

Her statue, Flora, stands almost 7 toes tall with out the foundation, and is named soon after the Roman goddess of flowering crops.

Flora is developed from scrap metal, a medium usually used by Charl.

Charl is typically influenced by the discarded and still left behind products of the ranch her studio sits on. She often employs scrap metal discarded by ranch palms, like bent nails or damaged machinery.

“The fellas on the ranch like to see factor they’re making use of each day as art,” shared Charl. “This piece is created up of points that I have just found on the ranch.”

Flora is on exhibit in Redmond, at the corner of Fifth St. and Dogwood Ave. It will stay there for the subsequent two yrs, as the metropolis installs new artwork on a rotating foundation.

Charl is also getting showcased in an exhibit in Portland, at the Multnomah Arts Heart. The exhibit, entitled “A Crack in The Concrete Where The Wildflower Grows,” will operate from July 1 to August 6.
