My fourth graders are having completely ready for a new sewing experience! Final year, they stitched these pizza pillows. Next up, we are dying our personal cloth and generating a sort of faux-Shibori dyed pillow (see under).
I like teaching sewing (and all points fibers) to my students. If you are intrigued but do not know in which to start off, I share all of my suggestions and tips in my e-book Sew and String Lab for Little ones!
I made the decision to create a video to walk my pupils by sewing basic principles. I performed it right now on our initial working day of stitching and it was a strike! I didn’t have to thread a solitary needle and only tied a single knot. If you would like to watch it, in this article you go:

Just a preview: fourth graders opened their dyed cloth, pinned it and commenced stitching in 30 minutes! When they are interested, it’s incredible how quick they can perform.
This is wherever we’re heading. Once again, this is a project from my book and generally a hit. Happy stitching!
