For the improved aspect of a 10 years, U.K.-born, Stockholm-based photographer Luke Stephenson has been fascinated by display birds, their impeccably groomed feathers, and undeniably distinctive personalities. Regardless of whether centering on a white-eyed Zosterop or confrontational Spereo Starling, his portraits are minimum with monochromatic backdrops that intensify the unique hues and designs of each individual plume.
The ongoing sequence, titled An Incomplete Dictionary of Clearly show Birds, originated with Stephenson seeking to photograph budgies but was intrigued by other species when he achieved some of his foreseeable future topics and their owners. He then built a moveable, avian-sized studio with lighting and a slot for swapping backdrops. Most of his topics gravitate towards the wood perch, he suggests, in which they land and clearly show off their distinctive personalities.
Stephen’s portraits are provided in a reserve published by Hoxton Mini Push that’s devoted to the feathered creatures, and he also recently produced a volume about Britain’s most significant fish. You can observe his most up-to-date photos and jobs on Instagram.
